excursions and field trips

In an effort to bring learning outside of the classroom a number of subject areas organize and run field trips either local in Suzhou or Shanghai. Additional, language teachers have begun to organize trips to the areas where the language being studied is spoken. Below are some field trips that have taken place or will take place during the 2008-2009 school year.
Grade 6 History trip to Suzhou Museum – Tuesday 7th October and Wednesday 4th March – both  8.30-13.05
Grade 7 History trip to the Shanghai museum – Thursday 20th November and Thursday 23rd April  – 8.30-15.30
Grade 7 Geography Fieldwork –“An examination of the impact of Tourism in Suzhou” – Tuesday 23rd  June – 8.30-15.30
Grade 8 Geography Fieldwork -  AU Optronics , S.I.P International Science Park and University –   “How and why does industrial location vary in Suzhou” -   Tuesday 14th April 8.30-15.30
Grade 9 Geography Fieldwork   - “How and why does infiltration rates vary on the school grounds and neighboring fields?”   -  Thursday 19th March 8.30-15.30
Grade 9 Geography Field Trip – “How and why does environmental quality vary between different places within Suzhou?” – Thursday 11th December 8.30-15.30
Grade 10  Geography Trip to the Shanghai Urban Planning Museum – “How is urbanization in China a cause of celebration or concern, as it creates and destroys environments?”- And the Oriental Shanghai Geological Museum, “How does geology affect our landscape and way of life?” -  Monday 16th February 8.30-18.00
Grade 11 Geography, Tourism and Biology Fieldwork and CAS in south China (Yangshuo in the Guangxi province)–   23-27th September
