A placement test will be given to students on admission to the Primary Division to determine their level of competency in the language. There are 4 levels catering to the different needs of the students:
1. Chinese mainstream A: for students who are learning Mandarin as their mother tongue
2. Chinese mainstream B: for students who have a good command of the language
3. Chinese Language as a Second Language (CSL): for students without a Chinese background
4. CSL Beginner Course: basic Chinese phonetics and oral communication skills will be taught for new learners of the language
Incorporating the PYP programme into the curriculum, the Chinese programmes have activities within the grade level unit of inquiry and formative assessment interwoven into the students’ daily learning. Summative assessment will be carried out at the end of each learning process to give the students the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt. |
