As news of early acceptances are rolling in, here at SSIS we want to take a moment to congratulate some of the members of our class of 2017 as they celebrate acceptance into University in Korea.

For many of us, assessment in school conjures up memories of tests and exams. Assessments were something to dread and be afraid of. Thankfully in the IB PYP, assessment takes on a different role and is something that has very positive effects on student learning and attitudes.
This week is Physical Education Open Week at SSIS! Grade 2 to 5 parents are invited to join in and test their athletic skills along with the child during class time!
We often face questions from parents and colleagues about how we select teachers to work in our school. With no single right answer to what makes a good teacher and having been busy recruiting teachers for the 2018-19 academic year, I thought I would take this opportunity to share what we look for when choosing teachers to work at SSIS.
Next Monday, 29th January, is Grade 10 Options Evening and Subject Fair. The evening will include a presentation about your child's transition into Grade 11 and will detail the different study pathways available to your child at SSIS.
On Wednesday, January 24th from 4:45 - 6pm the SSIS foyer will be filled with song as our secondary school hosts our annual Winter Soireé. This performance is the first performance for the year to celebrate the vast talents and music styles explored by our students and community members in our secondary school music program.
Now that we are all back from holiday and finding the weather getting colder, we would like to take a minute to review our school closing procedures.
