Head of Grade (HoG)
¡Hola! My name is Lina Farrow and I am delighted to be the Head of Grade 6. I am originally from Colombia and I have been teaching at SSIS for the past 3 years. I currently teach English B in the MYP and Spanish B in the DP. My husband is the MYP coordinator at the school. Apart from my teaching responsibilities, I advise the Middle School Student Council, coordinate the debate club for middle school and assist coaching the high school girl’s football team. Your child's first point of contact is with their homeroom teacher, but I am here to oversee the entire Grade 6. A big welcome to all the grade 6 students and their parents to SSIS Middle School. My name is Michael Bastow and this is my second year teaching Mathematics at SSIS. It is also my second year as a grade 6 homeroom teacher so hopefully I will be able to help the students make a successful transition to Grade 6. I moved to Suzhou from Australia with my wife Nadine and our three boys Will, Oliver and Fin. I have been teaching mathematics in Australia for 18 years and I am looking forward to working with all the students from Homeroom 6L. Kendyl Warren(6E)
Hello! My name is Kendyl Warren and I am the 6E Homeroom teacher as well as one of the Middle School Science Department teachers. I may have your child as a student in grade 6 ,7, or 8th. I am from the United States and have taught Middle School Science as well as being an Early Childhood Special Education teacher for many years in a small town in rural Northern Nevada. It is my pleasure to teach your child and get to know them as an individual. They may see me on the pool deck as I will be helping with the swim team or out in the garden as I hope to be a part of the Gardening Club. Leeanne Smith(6A)
Hi. I'm Leeanne Smith, known as Ms. Leeanne to my students. I come from Christchurch, New Zealand and will be teaching Grade 6, 7, and 8 Language A and B classes. This year, is my first year in China, after teaching for eight years in international schools in Laos and Tonga, and for many years in New Zealand. I am here with my husband and two children and we are very much looking forward to being a part of the SSIS community. I am also looking forward to establishing great relationships between home and school and to getting to know your children well. Hi, I am Ms. Jane Zeng, I am glad to introduce myself to the parents of G6A. I joined SSIS in 2001 and this is my 9th year teaching at SSIS. I have been teaching all the Chinese levels in the Middle Years Programme and Ab initio in the Diploma Programme. I like reading, travelling and playing with my lovely nephew. Jennifer Hughes(6R)
Hi! My name is Jennifer Hughes, and I come from beautiful Southern California in The United States of America. I have been teaching for 15 years. This year I will be teaching Grades 6 and 8 English, and am also the Middle School Teaching and Learning Coordinator. My husband is the Art teacher in the Elementary school and we have 3 wonderful children here at SSIS in Grades 2, 8, and 12 who keep us quite busy. Hello! My name is Jason Morin, and I am from south central Michigan in The United States of America. I have been teaching for 12 years. This year I will be teaching Grades 6 - 10 Information Technology and Grade 10 Science. My wife is busy taking care of our 18 month old daughter while our son is hard at works as a Grade 8 student here at SSIS. I am very excited to be working with the students in 6R this year.
