Our Mission
Suzhou Singapore International School (SSIS) aims to provide a high standard of International education to the children of expatriate families.The staff, students and parents of Suzhou Singapore International School work in partnership to create a learning environment that encourages and enables students to be self-motivated, lifelong learners, who value other cultures and are responsible, meaningful participants in the international community.

We have the following aims for our students:

  • To provide a quality learner-centered curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 12 with emphasis on the development of skills, attitudes and knowledge.
  • To nurture academic, social, emotional, physical and aesthetic abilities and to enable all students to achieve their maximum potential in all areas.
  • To develop strategies that include critical thinking, independent research, risk-taking, lateral thinking and reflection.
  • To enable students to make meaning of their education and to build on their prior knowledge, processes and skills.
  • To develop a sense of curiosity in learning and to help maintain this interest through school and beyond.To develop independent and cooperative working skills.
  • To provide students with the skills to be successful in a technological world.
  • To give all secondary students the opportunity to follow a full IB Diploma Program.
  • To build a strong partnership between students, parents, the school and the community.
  • To encourage students to engage with their peers, family and teachers as valuable sources of learning.
  • To support and encourage all students equally.
  • To encourage students to be personally responsible in their academic performance, in their behavior and in their relationships with all members of the SSIS community.
  • To support each learner's personal sense of identity, whilst developing their respect and understanding of the cultures of others.
  • To instill in our students a respect for the environment.
  • To empower students to develop a sense of humility, justice, integrity and compassion.

    In order to achieve this mission and preceding aims we endeavour:

  • To provide a safe, supportive and productive environment for all.
  • To provide the best possible facilities and resources.
  • To recruit the best teachers and support them in their work as professionals in the school.
  • To utilize the skills and expertise of the staff and provide support for their further development.
  • To continually review and refine the services offered at the school.
