SSIS provide support for students who have barriers to learning, and who require special support to participate in the school’s programs. Learning Support is provided by specially trained teachers respond to referrals made by teachers or parents. Learning Support Staff carry out classroom observations and discuss any further details as deemed necessary with teachers, parents and the Student Services Team. Learning Support Teachers work together with Subject or Classroom Teachers to develop a Learning Support Plan for students which outlines the identified areas of concern and the objectives to be achieved in working with the student.

The Learning Support Staff offer strategies to assist students in their learning such as accommodations within the regular classroom and adaptations or modifications to the learning materials. On occasions students may be withdrawn from the regular classroom for individual or small group support or to attend after school activities.
Learning Support Staff are available for individual teacher consultation for differentiation of tasks for gifted and talented learners and those with learning problems. Should parent wish to discuss the learning needs of their children they may contact the appropriate Leaning Support Teacher or Head of Student Services, Gerard Knobel or by appointment through the school’s reception.
