Living in Suzhou, China
Suzhou is located in the south-east of Jiangsu Province, 30 minutes by train from Shanghai.
The city is situated on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River on the shores of Taihu Lake and is part of the Yangtze River delta region. Suzhou has a population of approximately 10 million people. Suzhou has a four-season, humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers, and cool, cloudy, damp winters with occasional snowfall.
Some of Suzhou’s most popular areas for foreign residents are within walking distance or a short car ride from SSIS, and there is convenient access to public buses and the subway.
The Suzhou Industrial Park was established in 1994 as a joint project between Chinese and Singaporean governments.
