Isabelle Manders-Jones
Middle School Spanish Teacher and Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher
Originally from France, I studied in England, met my British husband in The Canary Islands, Spain, had two wonderful children in The Middle East, and my family and I have been living the "international life" in "international schools" for many years now so I am not too sure where home is these days....! I am looking forward to joining the SSIS community in August 2011 as Teacher of Spanish and French.
I had the opportunity to study Languages in Britain at Goldsmith College, University of London and after graduating I trained to be a secondary teacher at Trinity College, University of Cambridge in 1990. I started teaching in Hertfordshire, North London in a comprehensive school and soon decided to widen my horizons. I started teaching in an international school in Spain and I have never looked back. I have enjoyed teaching World Languages and History, another passion of mine, in Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Bahamas, Germany and Jamaica. Teaching in international schools opened my eyes to different cultures and curricula, such as the IB Diploma and MYP as well as the AP, the IGCSE and A Level.
Besides traveling, going to the theatre, cinema and museums , I enjoy reading, meeting people from world cultures and yes.... discovering their gastronomy with my family!
At SSIS I will be hosting the French and Spanish B – Language Clubs for fun! and will also be assisting with the school Drama productions.
