John Scrowston
High science teacher
I studied at the University of Liverpool, England, first gaining a degree in Chemistry, followed by a Post Graduate teaching certificate. I began my formal teaching career in 1993 at a large comprehensive school in south west England, teaching mainly Chemistry to students of ages 11-18. After seven years there, followed by a couple of years of worldwide travel, I became Head of Science at an independent post-16 college in London.
In 2005, I made the jump into the international teaching arena, taking a post at the British International School, Moscow. It was there that I developed my passion for IB teaching, and I am consequently very much looking forward to indulging this passion further at SSIS!

Ian Fowler
Science Teacher
I currently teach Science to 9E and 10E, IBSL chemistry to grade 11, IBHL chemistry to grade 12 and diploma Physics to grade 11.
I studied Chemistry at Leeds University in the U.K. after which I trained as a teacher at the University of Hull, gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
I am British and I taught for eighteen years in a secondary school in England before moving to Cairo where I worked for five years. After Egypt I worked in the International school of Manila, A preparatory school in South Carolina, U.S.A. and the International School of Tianjin, China.
In the last four years here, I have taught Science to students in grades 6 to 10 and Chemistry, Physics and Biology to Diploma students. in addition to my main duties, I am one of the advisors to the yearbook team.

Bryan Dennie
High school Chemistry, HSD, Middle school Science adn Homeroom Teacher
I am from Canada, and all of my study is also from Canada. I studied Biochemistry at the University of Waterloo near Toronto, Ontario. I completed a teaching certificate from Queen's University, also near Toronto, Ontario.
I have been a chemistry, biology and mathematics teacher in Canada in both public and private schools for the last 10 years. This is my second teaching year in China and at SSIS. I am involved in coaching primary swimming in the fall, middle school floor hockey in the winter and high school badminton in the spring. For any questions.

Chris Fowler
H.S Science teacher and IBD Biology
I studied Botany and Zoology and gained my teaching certificate at Hull University. Later I gained a Principle Training International Leadership Certificate. More recently I received an MA in International Leadership in Schools.
During my four years at SSIS I have held positions of responsibility including CAS Coordinator, Accreditation Coordinator and N-12 Curriculum Coordinator. Before coming to SSIS I was a Secondary Principle, an Assistant Head of an N-12 school and a Deputy Head of School.
I have taught Science to N-12 students and Biology to High school students, for many years in England, Egypt, Philippines, USA and China. Currently I teach 9R and 10R science, G11 and G12 IBDP SL and HL Biology and HSD Biological Science.In addition to my teaching I am a Yearbook Advisor and I am working with students on making the school pond.

Byron Farrow
MYP Coordinator and H.S Science teacher
Originally I am from Grimsby in the north of England. I studied Astrophysics at Birmingham University in the UK, and continued there to do my teacher training.
My first job as a Physics teacher was at Ramsey Abbey School in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire. In 1999, after three years teaching in England, I moved to Budapest, Hungary. In 2002 I moved on to Bogotá in Colombia. There I met my wife, Lina.
I came to SSIS in 2006 as a Physics and Science teacher; in 2007 I became Head of Grade 10, moving to the MYP Coordinator position in August 2009.As well as my teaching and administration duties I also coach the High School Girls Football team.

Amy Cunningham
Middle School Science (7L,8L, 8R) High School Science (9N, 10R) and 10R Homeroom Teacher
I am from Australia. I completed all of my tertiary study in Australia including: B. Medical Science (Immunology and Microbiology) at the University of New South Wales in Sydney & B. Education (Secondary) at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. I have been teaching Biology, Chemistry, Middle School Science and Maths in Australian state schools for the past 5 years. This is my first year teaching at SSIS. I am involved in coaching Girls Soccer.
