My home is a small country town in New Zealand where I obtained a farming
background.
I have been involved in International Education for 11 years with a degree in
Environmental Education from the University of the South Pacific and a Masters of Education from Endicott College USA.
I have been fortunate enough to have taught in seven IBO world schools in the subject areas of Physical education, Humanities and the visual arts.
A special interest has been outdoor education and the International Award for young people.
I look forward to being contacted by parents, students and the community in relation to my new role at SSIS.

Mitch Hyde
Secondary PE Teacher
Originally from Western Australia, I completed all my tertiary education at the Queensland University of Technology with of Bachelor of Secondary Education with majors in Exercise Science, Physical Education and Geography. During this time I was also playing semi- professional Australian Rules Football. I am a qualified Personal Trainer and Australian Qualified Swim coach.
I have spent the last four years teaching in the state school system in Queensland, Australia - teaching Physical Education and Health Studies.
This is my first year teaching here at SSIS and will be involved with Touch Rugby, Athletics and anything else I can do!

Scott McGregor
Secondary PE Teacher
I am from New Zealand and studied at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. I have been teaching PE for 3 years. I was previously at Palmerston North Boys' High School in the North Island of New Zealand. The 2011/12 year is my first year at SSIS and I have enjoyed the transition into the Suzhou lifestyle. Rugby is my number one sport and I have played all my life. I am coaching the D2 boys' volleyball team and hope to have a successful season with the team. I certainly believe that nothing is achieved without hard work and I am looking forward to having a positive time here at SSIS.

Sal Sprakel
Secondary PE Teacher
2011-12 is my first year at SSIS and my first time in China. I am teaching Grade 8, 9 & 10 PE and Grade 12 Health & Wellness. I am also Head of Grade 11. Before SSIS I was Personal Development co-ordinator at a school in Melbourne for Grade 11&12 students.
I studied a Bachelor of Teaching at La Trobe University and then went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Exercise and Sport Sciences at Victoria University. I also have a Certificate III and IV in Fitness.
I have a very large swimming background and I am involved with coaching the SSIS Elementary Swim Team.

Graham Bonar
Athletic Director / Secondary PE Teacher
Hey all! My name is Graham and I am happy to be back working with the athletic teams and the grade 6's this year.
I grew up in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada and have been working at international schools for the past five years.
I have spent time in both Kuwait and Syria, and have had the privilege of traveling throughout
many parts of the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
I went to school at the University of Calgary and have a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology and a
Bachelors Degree in Education.
When I'm not working I love to travel, read, and play just about any sport.
I am currently finishing up my Masters in school counseling from Argosy University in Florida. I
am excited to be working with the great staff and students at SSIS and am enjoying the outstanding facilities available to us.
