For most students Grade 7 is not the first year in secondary school and most are accustomed to the way of teaching in the Middle Years Program. Our grade 7 homeroom teachers help the students to feel comfortable and happy at our school and guide them where necessary.

As part of the MYP curriculum all grade 7 classes are involved in the Community and Service Program which focuses on helping out within the school. All six classes came up with their own activities:

7L will provide library assistance
7E will help find a friend, especially for new students
7A will create a games area
7R will help Early Years
7N will assist organising the Primary Sports Day
7S will start an awareness project to encourage people to be better people in their community

Another important part of Grade 7 is going on a three day camp. This year the Grade 7 students went to a site near Nanjing. The students are put into groups of mixed language ability, nationality and gender which promotes team building. They challenge themselves and each other to complete activities they would not normally do. This not only serves the goal of getting to know each other, both students and teachers in your grade, it also helps prepare the students for the academic challenges that lie ahead of them in Grade 7 and beyond.
