I have a teaching history in Primary Schools in New Zealand of more than 27 years, including a National Excellence in Teaching Award. I am a Junior Class Specialist having taught New Entrants, Year One and Two students for many of those years. I have also taught students from 5 to 12 years of age. I am a trained Reading Recovery Teacher.
My focus has always been in the field of Literacy, Visual Arts and Music. I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Auckland, NZ as well as a Certificate of Art and Design from Whitecliffe College of Art and Design, Auckland, having completed the first year of my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I play flute and piano and love playing music with others in duet, trios and quartet combinations.
I have a passion for ceramics, painting and paper sculpture, cutouts and collage. My paintings have been included in group shows in New Zealand and I am keen to continue to develop as an artist and teacher, both personally and professionally while at SSIS.
I am truly blessed to be given this opportunity and look forward to some exciting and fun-filled years at SSIS.
