Doron Gringorten - PE Specialist

I come from Toronto, Canada, where I have been teaching since 2000. I graduated university with an honors degree in sociology and then received additional certification in radio broadcasting. I spent 3 years working as a “reporter” in the sports department of a very popular news station and traveled throughout Canada and the U.S. reporting on various sporting events. I became interested in teaching after spending one year in Korea as an English teacher. I returned home and went back to school to receive my teaching qualifications. For 9 years, I taught a grade 8 homeroom, which included Math, English, History, Geography, Drama and, of course, PE. This is my second year as a PE teacher at SSIS and I am enjoying this experience very much. I am here with my wife Hilary, and my two children, Jacob and Sydney.

Karen Zheng - PE Specialist

I graduated from Suzhou University with a degree in Physical Education. I went on to teach primary school physical education in the New District International school in Wuxi before joining SSIS in 2001. In the last eight years here, I have taught elementary PE, from grade one to grade five. I also teach badminton as a CCA. Badminton is one of my favorite sports to teach.

Ann-Maree Butler - PE Specialist

I completed a Bachelor of Education at Southern Cross University in New South Wales Australia. On completion of my Bachelor, I then moved to China and started my teaching career at Suzhou Singapore International School. This is my forth year of teaching at SSIS. I am also actively involved in extra curricular activities at SSIS. This year will be the forth year that I have coached the middle schools girls’ basketball team. For the past two years I have also coached the junior girls’ varsity Basketball team. This is my first year as assistant coach of the girls Varsity Volleyball team. I have also run three after school session of basketball for the ACE program over the last two years.
