Leanne Harvey - Kindergarten Coordinator and KGC Teacher

My name is Leanne Harvey and this is my first year at SSIS and also my first teaching position in an international school.  I am from Queensland, Australia where I have taught for almost 20 years.  I have taught all grade levels of Elementary school but am especially passionate about Early Years Education.  I am a trained Reading Recovery teacher and have worked as a learning support teacher, teacher librarian and held various roles in administration including Principal and Deputy Principal.  I am very excited to be teaching KGC this year and am looking forward to helping to make this year a very positive experience for all of the children in my class.  I love to sing and dance and have lots of fun with the children.

Andrea Phillips - KGA Teacher

I am a national of Guyana South America/Caribbean; where I qualified for my Early Childhood Education Teacher Certification at the University of Guyana (IACE) and a Bachelors of Elementary Education at the University of Cebu, Philippines. I later went on to complete a Diploma in Child Care at the Stone Bridge Associated Colleges in the United Kingdom and an International Montessori Teaching Diploma (Pre-school/Kindergarten) at the North American Montessori Centre in Vancouver Canada. I am also licensed by the Government of Alberta Canada – Children and Youth Services as a Child Care Development Supervisor. My teaching experience spans a number of years in the national education system of Guyana, and international schools in Guyana and the Philippines. Here at SSIS my currently role is teacher of Kindergarten A.

Xue Hong - KGA Chinese Teacher

I graduated from the University of the Science and Technology of Suzhou with a major in Education and received my senior teacher certificate in 2002. As an educator, I taught the children Chinese, English, Art, Math for thirteen years in a local kindergarten and have a rich teaching experience. I was  head of bilingual teachers in San Yuan kindergarten before joining SSIS in 2005. In the last five years here, I have taught Chinese language and culture in Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten. I started as a CSL Teacher in August 2009.

Ren Rynne - KGB Teacher

I have been in education since 1980. I have a Diploma in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Special Education, received from colleges in Brisbane, Australia. I have taught many grade levels. I have worked as a Primary Learning Support Teacher for eight years which means I have assisted children with learning difficulties in classes from Preschool to grade 7.
My previous international experience was teaching Kindergarten in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia for four years. My first international teaching post was in 1996 at an International school in Kuala Lumpur where I started as a Learning Support teacher and then I taught Pre-Kindergarten. We enjoyed living and working in Malaysia for four and a half years.

My greatest joy comes from working with young children. I enjoy their uninhibited love for life and learning. I believe learning should be fun so we do a lot of singing, dancing and playing games.

I enjoy many creative pursuits and have a passion for Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology, so being in China for the first time is a huge thrill for me.

My husband David is the ICT Coordinator in the Elementary School. Our eldest daughter Tegan is at Macquarie University in Sydney. Greta and Jorja, our 9year old twins are in Year 5 this year. We are all excited to be starting this new adventure of living and working in Suzhou. I am looking forward to a great year in Kindergarten and being part of the SSIS community.

Amy Wu - KGB Chinese Teacher

I graduated from the University of Science and Technology of Suzhou with a major in Education. I  got my Senior Teacher certificate in 1999. My original experience as an educator was here in China teaching Early Years in a local school.  I  have been teaching for thirteen years and most of my experience is with Kindergarten children. I taught the children Chinese, English, DIY, Art, Math and so on. I have taught Chinese in Kindergarten at SSIS since 2006, and I have taught Performing Arts for half a year.

Tracey Lu - PMP and Performing Arts Teacher

I graduated from Suzhou University and received my Bachelor's Degree and Diploma on 1998. From 1998 to 2003 I worked  in the Tongyuan  Art Kindergarten as a homeroom teacher. During this time I went to the education training station to train to be a teacher and was awarded my Qualification certificate. From 2003 to 2006 I worked in Kid-Castle  as a Chinese teacher for one and a half years, then became a Vice- Principal. I came to SSIS in 2006 and I have been a kindergarten Chinese teacher for about five years.

Anna Huang - Early Years CSL Teacher

I graduated from the University of the Science and Technology of Suzhou with a major in Education. I got my Senior Teacher certificate in 2006. I have been teaching for eight years. Prior to working here, I was teaching in a Montessori school in Suzhou as a homeroom teacher.  I taught the children Chinese, English, Art and Math. I have been working at SSIS since year 2006. I have been teaching Kindergarten for three years and I spent half a year teaching performing arts.
