Amanda Hedley - 2AH - Grade 2 Coordinator

I studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. After this I decided to train as a teacher and earned a Diploma of Teaching. I have taught in elementary schools in New Zealand before having my two children: Harry and Laura who are now 8 and 11 respectively. Before coming to SSIS I worked as a Literacy Teacher for six years working with 13-15 year olds.
This is my second year at SSIS. I am currently Grade Coordinator of Grade 2. I have assisted with the choir and Elementary Production.

Ann-Maree Butler - 2AB

I completed a Bachelor of Education at Southern Cross University in New South Wales Australia. On completion of my Bachelor, I then moved to China and started my teaching career at Suzhou Singapore International School. This is my third year of teaching Grade Two at SSIS. I am also actively involved in extra curricular activities at SSIS. This year will be the third year that I have coached the middle schools girls’ basketball team. For the past two years I have also coached the junior girls’ varsity Basketball team. This is my first year as assistant coach of the girls Varsity Volleyball team. I have also run three after school session of basketball for the ACE program over the last two years.

Elvina Tong - 2ET

I joined SSIS in August 2008 as a Grade 2 homeroom teacher. Originally, I studied Finance and Information Systems at New York University. I worked in publishing and marketing for several years before becoming an elementary teacher in New York City private schools. I am now in my seventh year of teaching and have taught Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2. I completed a Master’s degree in May 2008 at the Bank Street College of Education in New York, USA. I am certified to teach in New York State. I speak fluent Mandarin and Cantonese.

Erin Whaling - 2EW

I studied Psychology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree. I went on to receive my Masters of Teaching degree in Primary Education from Griffith University in Queensland Australia. I am currently in my ninth year of teaching. I have taught Grades 2-5 in Canada, Abu Dhabi and finally China. I have been at SSIS for four years. I previously taught Grade 3 and this year I am teaching Grade 2.
