Mark Treichel - Elementary Principal

I completed my Diploma of Teaching through James Cook University and received my Bachelor of Education through the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. I have over 20 years of experience as an educational administrator in a wide range of P-12 schools. Having previous served as Elementary Principal of SSIS from 2001-2004 my family and I returned to Suzhou and SSIS in 2009. Central to my commitment to ensuring students, quality and accountability remain the focus of my leadership are three key questions: "Is what I am doing in the best interests of the students?", "Is this the very best I can do?" and "Am I prepared to accept personal accountability for this?". I look forward to being an integral part of the future journey of SSIS. Together we can share in the excitement of learning and play an active role assisting our students shape their own future and that of our world. With my "open door"policy, I am sure you will find me to be open, honest and compassionate. I look forward to earning your trust and respect.

Rebecca Clentworth - Elementary Assistant Principal

I am from Wellington, New Zealand. I studied at Victoria University in Wellington before I went to Wellington Teachers College. I have taught in a variety of schools within New Zealand at all levels of the Primary School. I decided I would like to teach abroad and further my experience as a teacher. I moved to Suzhou in 2007 and have been at SSIS since my arrival. I was teaching in Grade Two, then I took on the coordinator position and this is my second year in the Assistant Principal role. I enjoy working at SSIS and in the PYP curriculum. I find the children’s enthusiasm for learning and self confidence the backbone to the success of the Elementary School.

Dom Thomas - PYP Coordinator

I studied for a Bachelor of Education degree at Birmingham University in England and graduated in 2002. I taught for two years in England before moving to Istanbul, Turkey to work in a British International School. I taught in Turkey for five years and moved to Suzhou in 2005. At SSIS I have taught Grade 4, been G4 Coordinator and in September 2009 I was made the PYP Coordinator for the Elementary school. I have been at SSIS since we began teaching the Primary Years Programme.
