Welcome to Grade Two at SSIS. This year we have four classes supported by homeroom teachers and two ESL teachers. Our experienced team comes from America, Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand.

	These students are exploring number using the place value blocks resource. This helps them become more knowledgeable		During Grade 2’s Trip to the Park the students appreciated what the playground had to offer.

This year Grade 2 will visit a park, a pond and Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. There will also be a trip organised by the Chinese teachers. We will be having a cooperative games afternoon and a parent reading afternoon. For one unit the students will design their own powerpoint presentation and book to share with parents.

Learner Profile focusses throughout the year are: Caring, Communicator, Thinker, Reflective, Open minded, Principled and Well Balanced.

In Grade Two we emphasise working responsibly in independent activities and working cooperatively in group activities in order to accomplish a common goal.	Students sharing their work with one another.	Learning to communicate with others and to share ideas (ESL lesson).

We encourage Grade 2 students to become life-long learners through independence and cooperative behaviour. The children are exposed to reading and writing every day through different curriculum areas. Grade 2 students really grow in maturity throughout the year. We look forward to seeing this growth in your child.
