IB Diploma Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a rigorous pre-university course of studies, leading to examinations that meet the needs of highly motivated secondary school students between the ages of 16 and 19 years. Designed as a comprehensive two-year curriculum that allows its graduates to fulfil requirements of various national education systems, the diploma model is based on the pattern of no single country but incorporates the best elements of several. The IBMYP programme which precedes the Diploma Programme prepares students with the study skills and approaches to learning which they will need as they enter the Diploma Programme.
Students entering the diploma programme will take course in Theory of Knowledge (TOK), will take part in 150 hours of Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) and prepare an personal research paper (extended essay) of around 4000 words. They also choose ones subject from each of the six groups below.

Some variation in subjects taken in group 6 are possible in discussion with the SSIS IB Diploma Coordinator.
This program reflects the IB commitment to internationalism through the second language (and through some literature requirements in English), to learning outside the classroom through the extended essay and the community, and to independent learning through the research
Finally, the IB prepares students for a top university. You cannot complete the program without learning to work hard, to organise yourself, and to read and write effectively. IB Diploma graduates are ready when they get to college.
