The main focus of the course is on language acquisition and development in the four primary language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. This is done through the study and use of language in a range of situations and for a variety of purposes and audiences. At the end of the course, the learners are expected to demonstrate their competence in the areas of accurate language use, cultural interaction (appropriateness) and message handling. Learning activities are based on a multitude of written, oral and viewing materials - nonfiction and excerpts from fiction.
